Bravo TFO!

Watching Joseph Losey's Monsieur Klein on TFO last night I began to realize what a tremendous resource the French language equivalent of TVOntario is for film buffs. There's the dross, of course, usually dimwitted domestic comedies from France, and a noticeable shortage of films from Belgium and Switzerland - not that either country is a big deal in celluloid. But such flaws can be endured because of the treats such as Monsieur Klein, with Alain Delon and Jeanne Moreau, Stavisky, from Alain Resnais, and Coup de Torchon with the late, great Phillippe Noiret and the irrepressible Jean-Pierre Marielle.

Not all TFO films are French - or in French - so they are dutifully subtitled and we can read along. That makes me wonder why TFO doesn't subtitle its French language films in English. There are lots of Anglos, I'm sure, whose French is only basic - or worse - but who would nevertheless enjoy watching some of the masters at work. How about it, TFO?
