Propping up Starbucks

Talk about adding insult to injury. Earlier today I was in a Starbucks, the one at Yonge and Bloor that used to be Britnell's book store, a Hogtown institution. I looked around and it was full of ESL students busying themselves with irregular verbs, the plural possessive and other mysteries of English, which seemed fitting given the location's former tenant. But then I looked up and was crestfallen. There on a top shelf, a vestige of Britnell's former glory, were rows of books - at least three of them written by Tom Clancy. Please, Starbucks, if you're going to use books as props in this location at least display the sorts of titles Britnell's itself sold.
